Bahasa Istana Bahasa istana ialah bentuk bahasa yang digunakan di kalangan kerabat diraja, apabila berhubung dengan kerabat diraja, dan apabila menyebut hal-ehwal berkenaan raja dalam sesetengah bahasa, baik masih digunakan hari ini mahupun tinggal sejarah. Perkataan : berkenan Maksud: bersetuju Ayat : Baginda telah berkenan untuk merasmikan kempen masyarakat penyayang yang akan diadakan di Kompleks Budiman esok.

Rujukan kehormat termasuk juga dalam sistem sapaan dalam bahasa Melayu.  Rujukan hormat ialah frasa yang digunakan untuk merujuk kepada orang-orang kehormat.  Pengetahuan terhadap rujukan hormat sangat penting bagi semua orang kerana ianya juga merujuk kepada aspek kesantunan berbahasa.  Sekiranya kita tersalah menggunakan rujukan kehormat, maka secara tidak langsung boleh dianggap sebagai kurang beradab.
